Health Education

It is a common misconception that diseases such as plague, smallpox, Leprosy etc have been wiped off from the face of the earth when millions in the third world countries are languishing with the same. The old adage that goes “Health is the only wealth” has somehow lost its cogency in our fast paced so-called modern lifestyle where the concept of health is relegated to the sidelines of our existence. In the maddening and monotonous race to achieve self-aggrandizement we seem to pay the least attention to our physical health and mental hygiene.

Heath education is the kind of guidance given and a conscious effort made at spreading awareness among the general masses by employing different mediums of propaganda such as radio, television, distribution of pamphlets etc. It primarily concerns itself with dissemination of health related fact among the rural populace so as to prevent the onset of a particular disease which threatens that particular locality.

The first step to achieve heath literacy among people is by imposing strict norms so that the basic rules of sanitation and hygiene are followed in each and every household and also to discourage any infringement of this law by enforcing harsh penalties on the defaulters. The health minister of every block is responsible for the holistic education of the members of the block regarding health and hygiene issue. Since prevention is always better than cure, heath education offers a new and progressive way to combat the on spread of diseases and also to curb a particularly contagious disease to take the form of an epidemic and engulf a colossus of population within its sick arms.

Health education aims to eradicate syndromes from spreading and infections from enlarging by making the inhabitants more aware of the methods of through which pathogenic organism’s network and also by offering ways of curtailing this multiplication.
