According to a popular old adage “A sound mind resides in a healthy body”, so going by the knowledge of our forefathers a healthy body is a prerequisite for a sound and harmonious mind. The physical requirements satisfied prompt the mental growth to take place within the human anatomy. Physical well being plays a critical role in the intelligence and intellectual stature attained by an individual.

If you have the good sense to believe that you can survive on a mere diet of knowledge without paying any heed to the requirements of your physical form, then as per the theory of evolution, your physical framework will be compelled to take the route to doom adversely affecting your mental health and marking the beginning of the end of your insatiable quest for knowledge.

Mental health and education are closely associated with each other. For any type of education to take place sound mental health is the first criteria. If children are not in sound mental health, they cannot concentrate on learning and retaining the knowledge received in the classroom. Learning is primarily dependent on sound mental health. Mental health is as essential to learning process as intelligence. Mental health is an inseparable part of education, but this mental health and peace is only attainable through the process of physical training and activity.

A healthy body is the key to maintain a healthy as well as a balanced mind. Just as knowledge whets the brain and give it food for thought, similarly exercise and physical activity serve as fodder for the attainment of a salubrious self. In course of maintaining a fit body one indulges in various sports which teaches one to accept victory and defeat with equanimity. It is a kind of training for future such developments in other spheres of one’s being.
